The first UK bred Dobermann to gain a Schutzhund 3 Qualification score at a National Trial

On Saturday 20th March, the UKDA (UK Dobermann Assoc') held the first ever UK ZTP (Fit for Breeding) test. Open to dogs who have achieved their BH (minimum), nine dogs were tested. Three dogs gained the highest possible grading of ZTP V1A - Inguna's Latvian import female, Aritaur Histabraq and Aritaur Vincent Vega. Congratulations to all particpants for being bold enough to test your dogs, and to gain the respect of the co entrants. Thanks most of all to Dave & Heidi at Chancepixies for hosting the trial judged by Herr Wiblishauser from Germany, to the members of the Osnabruck Schutzhund Club and helper Normann for your help and generously given time.

Bracco gained his Schutzhund 3 qualification on 26/27 July at Bolton Sch Club from German Judge Walter Schier, (ADRK) and his SchH2 on 17/18th May at South Cheshire Schutzhund Club from German Judge M Scholz

The amount of dedication to train even one discipline, is immense, so to gain a Schutzhund 3 is truly outstanding.

Bracco is only the third UK Dobermann to achieve his SchH3 and has the highest ever achieved score for a UK Dobermann. As some will know, I was 'banned' from his trials, as following another great track score of 90 on his first SchH1 trial, he broke a long down when he saw me trying to stay out of sight behind a van. The owner of the other dog on the field recalled her dog while Bracco was doing his long down on the field and Bracco thought ‘that’s my mum calling me!’ He left the field to find me which I thought showed excellent use of a dog’s search and rescue ability, but they didn’t see it that way and he was promptly disqualified! It was cold in that dog house for some time.

We are indebted to Chris Bows (3 x National Champion) for your help and encouragement. To learn from you has been invaluable. Martin, Bracco & Jay

Schutzhund comprises three disciplines – in order – tracking, obedience and protection. Each dog begins each discipline with 100 points, with points being deducted for example: for missing articles on the track, missing a corner/too fast/too slow/casting etc.

Bracco fades badly in the heat, so when Martin rang in a superb 98 in tracking on this Saturday of 2008 in the blazing heat, we were over the moon. On his SchH2 he brought in a very paltry 72 in obedience (70 is the minimum pass rate!), as he couldn’t muster a send away – he’s usually rapid but today went out like a snail, and then in the afternoon a good 90 in protection.

Anyone who trains their dogs for any type of work will know the massive dedication involved in training, and Martin and Bracco have worked so hard day in, day out, travelling every weekend and weekdays he can, to get to the top. 98 is the highest ever score for tracking from a Dobe in this country, and Bracco also brought in the highest SchH3 tracking score on the day’s trial beating all the GSD’s.

Last week Martin took Bracco to Belgium and won the CACIB, so if he is fortunate enough to get another (has to be 12 months apart), he would be the breeds’ first British International Champion.

I’m sure even those who don’t work their dogs will be proud that a Dobermann has flown the flag so highly for our breed.

Thanks to all his friends for your great support - he’ll be very happy to give all his friends kisses when he next sees you!

DOG CC WINNER BELFAST 2007 - Sincere appreciation to the Judge - Mrs Elaine Drennan who also awarded the Bitch CC & BOB to Hipnotique giving Aritaur the brother and sister double.

For Aritaur Dominatrix' first litter, we took her to Finland to mate her to one of Europe's current top sires ~ the Russian dog Tamerlan iz Slavnoi Stai. From the famous 'T' litter we had seen many of Tamer's progeny at the IDC (International Dobermann Club show in Bratislava '03) and were extremely impressed by not only his progeny, but those of his siblings from the famous 'T' litter who have made a considerable impact on the breed.

Tamerlan combined elegance, substance and steady character and Bracco has inherited his sire's stable, loving and focused attention with plenty of drive for work. Our dogs were recently used by Tigress Productions in a documentary of 2007 on the evolution of dogs. Bracco was filmed playing with children unknown to him in the fields where he lay down with his head in their laps whilst they covered him with grass. This dog really is the 'all 'round Dobermann'. We are incredibly proud of Bracco and so pleased with the success of his superb progeny.
